23 - TVBOY

The exhibition also features works by Salvatore Benintende, known as TvBoy, a Palermo-born artist and leading figure in the Neo Pop movement. TvBoy is not just a pseudonym but an alter ego often depicted as a symbol of distinction from the mass culture of younger generations—a culture shaped, as the name suggests, by television.

Since 2005, the artist has lived in Barcelona, working on urban art interventions and design projects. Notably, in a 2007 Street Art exhibition at Milan’s PAC, he presented three blank canvases to be painted live in the gallery at the start of the show, affirming that street-born art cannot be confined within museum walls. His works appear not only in Italy and Spain but across major cities in Europe—Munich, Berlin, London, Paris—and in the United States. His style is strongly influenced by American and Italian Pop Art, as well as comics, including both American comics and Japanese manga.

Provocation is another hallmark of his work. Pieces such as the TV-faced portraits from his early period and his unmistakable “kisses” convey strong, engaged messages, blending irony and sarcasm.
